IdeaJar is developed and operated by Stephanie Galbo. This policy explains how the IdeaJar app, support correspondence and public information pages handle information. In this policy, “I” refers to Stephanie Galbo. For privacy questions or requests, contact ideajarsupport@gmail.com.
Your ideas and app data
IdeaJar stores your ideas, categories, dates, drafts, milestones and preferences locally on your device. The app does not require an account and does not upload your collection to an IdeaJar server. The current app includes no advertising, tracking or third-party analytics service. Device and app-store providers may separately process information under their own settings and policies. I do not receive your locally stored collection unless you choose to send it to me, for example in a support email.
Reminders and permissions
Optional reminders use your selected time, your device’s timezone and whether you have saved an idea on a date to schedule local notifications. IdeaJar asks for notification permission when you tap Enable reminder. Notification text does not include your saved ideas. You can turn reminders off in the app or manage permission in device settings. A device-local permission-request flag helps avoid repeated permission prompts.
Backups and other providers
You choose whether and where to export a backup. Export files contain readable idea text and app data; they are not password-encrypted. A destination such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive or another provider handles the file under its own terms. Depending on your device settings, operating-system backups or device transfer may also copy app data. IdeaJar does not provide automatic app-managed cloud synchronization or verify the freshness of system backups.
Deletion and local retention
Deleting an individual idea removes it from app views and future exports, but a local record marked as deleted can remain in the mobile database. An internal recovery copy from a storage upgrade can also retain older content. Settings → Delete all data physically removes the local collection, drafts, milestones and internal migration recovery copies, resets app preferences and attempts to cancel reminders. Device notification permission settings remain managed by the operating system. Resetting the app does not erase files you exported, support emails or copies held in device backups. Manage those copies with the relevant provider.
Contacting support
If you email ideajarsupport@gmail.com, the support mailbox receives your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. The mailbox is hosted by Gmail, a Google service. Support correspondence is used to respond to requests and troubleshoot issues. Please avoid sending private ideas or full backup files unless they are necessary and you choose to share them. You can email the same address to request deletion of support correspondence. I do not use support messages for advertising or sell their contents. Google processes email under its applicable terms and privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Support email retention
I delete resolved support conversations and their attachments from the support mailbox within 12 months after the last contact, unless they are needed for an ongoing issue or a legal obligation. You may request earlier deletion by emailing ideajarsupport@gmail.com. Deletion from the mailbox does not immediately remove all copies from the email provider’s backups; Google’s retention practices apply to those copies.
Security and your choices
IdeaJar relies on device and operating-system protections for local app data; it does not add a separate password or encryption layer to the database or exported files. Protect your device and choose backup destinations carefully. No storage system can guarantee absolute security. You can edit or delete ideas, export your collection, disable reminders or reset local data without creating an account.
Website hosting and browser preview
The public privacy and support website uses Cloudflare Pages. When you visit it, Cloudflare processes technical request information, which may include your IP address, requested URL, browser information and request time, to deliver and protect the website. These pages do not include advertising, analytics scripts, contact forms or app collection uploads, and the page code does not set cookies. Cloudflare’s processing and retention are governed by its applicable terms and privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/. Visiting these pages does not send your saved ideas to Cloudflare. If you use a browser preview of IdeaJar, its collection is stored in that browser, separately from the phone app; clearing site data can remove it.
Privacy requests and changes
You can manage ideas and backups directly in the app. For personal information you have sent to support, email ideajarsupport@gmail.com to request access, correction or deletion. I may need information reasonably necessary to verify your request. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy law, including the right to complain to a data protection authority. I cannot retrieve or erase a collection that exists only on your device or in a backup you control. This policy will be updated when information practices change, with the revised date shown above.
